About Me

While always being interested in technology from a young age, I officially started working in IT while I was still in high school. I started a small computer repair business and also job shadowed the high school's network administrator.
Once I graduated from high school, I stopped my business then moved on to college. After college, I moved back home and started with a local hardware store as an IT Administrator for their 5 locations.
Over the next 6 years, I moved on to a few different places then settled into my current employer, AI Fire. Since then, I have been promoted twice and now hold the title of Senior Systems Engineer of Infrastructure and Security.Outside of work, I enjoy a quiet life with my lovely wife, 3 kids, 2 cats, 1 dog, and an ever-changing number of chickens. Some days it's a home improvement project and other days it's riding ATVs. I enjoy hiking in new places and seeing all what nature has to give.

Current Role

I have been working remotely for AI Fire since 2018 and am responsible for the IT infrastructure and security. When I started, the company had about 700 employees and was less than $300M/yr in revenue. Fast forward to today, the company has 2,000+ employees, 50+ locations, and over $800M/yr in revenue. The organization primarily grows through Mergers & Acquisitions which has been non-stop since I started. Aside from scaling the technology with the ever-growing employee count, we are always seeing new environments with new challenges that need integrating. With those challenges comes the increasing attack surface and have to stay on top of trends to ensure threat actors do not sneak in though the acquired infrastructure.
Some of the technologies I deal with on a day to day are Microsoft 365 (Entra, Intune, Defender, Exchange, Power Platform, Dynamics, etc), Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory, PKI / Public Key Infrastructure, RADIUS, Meraki, VoIP, custom PowerShell scripting, and a whole lot more.

My Ethics

Job Longevity - I have been with my current employer since 2018. I am dedicated to the work I am performing and making sure that it is the best it can be.
Volunteering - Aside from always volunteering for projects or to fix things first, I have been volunteering outside of work with my local emergency management since 2017. I have since attained the rank of Corporal and am licensed as an Indiana Emergency Medical Responder.
